Anorexia Nervosa

How can we help?

There are two main therapies that are currently available to help people overcome this disorder.

  1. Psychodynamic Therapy: assumes root cause relates to developmental anxieties. There is no change in diet made, and no one is blamed. It is felt that the individual will change in time.
  2. Maudsley Therapy: focuses on behavioral change in eating and weight gain rather than the causes of the eating disorder.

Most importantly, people need to change themselves;  otherwise no therapies or interventions will prove sucessful.
